We purchased a hillside section in Nelson with a great view but with some reasonable site constraints including access and a building height covenant. After working with Nelson architects Jerram Tocker Barron (JTB) to undertake concept designs we were introduced to Shane McBride in the winter of 2012. The architects strongly recommended Shane and coincidentally we had already admired a house he had built a year previously.
Immediately we felt very comfortable. Shane is personable, professional and he has a great eye. Shane added a lot of value to the design process and offered many construction solutions that allowed us to gain significantly more from the site than we had initially thought possible. He made a great team with our JTB architects.
This is the first time we have built and having Shane’s experience and expertise was invaluable. Not only is Shane an exceptional builder, he is an outstanding project manager. Shane put together a team of builders and subcontractors who were fully committed to the project. From start to finish the M2Build team did a great job and the final result exceeded our expectations.
All the way through Shane was available to answer any queries and work through details with us. He provided weekly updates which meant we were never left guessing and we could coordinate our timing. No detail was overlooked. Over the build, a number of subcontractors mentioned Shane’s attention to detail and his strong project management skills and this showed through in the final result.
All in all, the build process was handled very professionally but also with a personal touch that allowed us to all share in a sense of achievement when the house was ready for us to move in. It is a lovely home to live in and Shane and the M2Build team deserve a large amount of credit for this.
